A major survey has been launched to identify the main problems facing Sussex businesses in 2004.
Business support organisation Sussex Enterprise has sent out a questionnaire to 5,000 firms across the county.
It hopes the results of the survey will be reflective of specific and more general issues affecting businesses in the region.
Sussex Enterprise chief executive Mark Froud said: "The results will allow us to communicate with all levels of government and help to improve policy areas that are hampering business growth."
Results from the "Voice Of Business" poll will be published early this year.
