Former Albion defender John Crumplin will continue to spearhead Crawley Down's push for promotion.
Crumplin has agreed to remain as manager of the County League division two side for the rest of the season.
Having initially agreed to take charge until Christmas following the resignation of joint managers Darren Barker and Alan Watson in November, he has now extended the arrangement until the summer.
But Crumplin, who made 245 appearances for the Seagulls between 1987 and 1995, insists he may leave in May regardless of whether Crawley Down are promoted or not.
The club has permission to erect floodlights at the Haven but they have yet to be installed and Crumplin insists he needs them for training.
He said: "I need the floodlights up but the chairman is aware of that.
"They have already bought the floodlights but they have to go up this year for me to even think about staying next year. The facilities are very important for me."
A 15th minute Darren Tidey goal gave Crawley Down a 1-0 win at Broadbridge Heath on Saturday.
It was Crawley Down's fifth win in nine games since Crumplin took over and moved them to within two points of the promotion places, although they have played more games than any of their rivals.
