The driver who knocked down nine-year-old Callum Oakford used fake documents to get a job at the hospital where the schoolboy died, it has emerged.
Illegal immigrant Kamel Kadri had worked at Worthing Hospital, raising more questions about how he managed to slip through a series of checks using a stolen passport.
Callum's mother spoke of her anger that Algerian Kadri could cheat border checks to enter Britain.
On Monday at Worthing Magistrates' Court, Kadri admitted possessing a fake passport, failing to stop after an accident, failing to report an accident and having no insurance or driving licence.
Kadri, 38, previously of Wallace Parade, Worthing, managed to get a place on the books of a recruitment agency, which put him forward for a job as a cleaner in Worthing Hospital after entering the country illegally.
David Walmsley, Worthing Hospital communications officer, confirmed Kadri had worked as a night cleaner in November 2003.
Kadri had been recommended by Bos Recruitment, based in Chapel Road, Worthing, and completed 43 hours' work, during five night shifts and two half-shifts.
Mr Walmsley said: "The procedure for background checking was set in motion by the employment agency whose responsibility it was to ensure the necessary checks were carried out.
"However, Mr Kadri's employment at the hospital ceased before these checks had progressed beyond the initial phase of security."
Mr Walmsley said Worthing and Southlands Hospitals NHS Trust had a long-standing relationship with Bos Recruitment and would not be terminating its contract with the firm.
Bos Recruitment would not comment.
Kadri will be sentenced at Chichester Crown Court on February 6.
