As a Labour Party member who in Brighton in 1995 had the pleasure of Ken Livingstone insisting I have a long chat with him about the future of our beloved Left, I am thrilled to see him back in the Labour Party.

You have only to walk along London's Whitehall, which can now be crossed safely, to realise the success of policies Tony Blair once derided as unworkable, such as the congestion charge.

But, as I am sure Ken realises, Blair would ditch him again if he thought he could escape voter disapproval again, as he thinks he has done on George Galloway's brave anti-Iraq war stance.
