Albion manager Mark McGhee is on the brink of further borrowing to keep on course for at least a play-off place.
He is expecting to make another loan signing before next Saturday's crunch visit to promotion-bound Queens Park Rangers.
McGhee revealed: "We are talking to people and I am hopeful we will bring in a player next week who will further boost the size of the squad and the options I have."
Clubs are allowed eight short-term loans in a season and Albion have two left.
The loans of midfielder Zesh Rehman and goalkeeper Ross Flitney from Fulham count twice, as they have not been continuous.
Darius Henderson was borrowed from Reading at the start of the season, while the QPR match marks the end of Mark Yeates' second month from Spurs.
McGhee said: "We can only take him for another month. You cannot convert to a long term loan after the 31st of December.
"Spurs were never going to do that anyway, so the best we can hope for is one more month."
Rehman is returning to Fulham following today's home game against Oldham.
McGhee said: "It's a shame because Zesh is looking as if he now understands the difference between playing League football, where it really is your livelihood, and reserve football.
"He looks more aggressive in training and in games. I think you will see him emerge at Fulham now or go somewhere else on loan and really make a contribution, because he has learnt a lot from his period here."
McGhee has set his team a target of 72 points to maintain their position in the play-off zone.
He predicted: "There are 22 games left, I think we need from that probably 34 .
"That is not an impossible target by any means, only similar to what we have done already, so I think it is there for us."
Gary Hart has not given up on catching Rangers or pacesetters Plymouth Argyle, who visit Withdean at the end of the month.
The right winger said: "If you look back at the Chesterfield season, when we won the League, they were miles in front of us. There is a long way to go yet and a lot of points to play for."
