James Laing and Pat Harding grabbed four goals apiece as Hassocks rattled up a remarkable 9-0 victory over Selsey at the Beacon.
Dave Smith was also on the scoresheet as a depleted Robins side tore the visitors apart.
Robins manager Dave John said: "The front two's finishing was something else. It was one of those days when we did not miss many of our chances."
Chichester were held to a 1-1 draw by Ringmer as two penalties accounted for the goals.
Ringmer joint caretaker manager Reece Head said: "We were going to a side 19 points ahead of us in the table and before the game we would have settled for a point. However, on reflection, we perhaps deserved a little bit more."
Chris Johnson scored from the spot after Ringmer won a controversial penalty for handball but Graham Martin later conceded a spot-kick from which Paul Thomas levelled with eight minutes to go.
Whitehawk boss Ian Chapman hailed his young guns following a 2-1 win at Horsham YMCA.
Matt Duffield fired the hosts into a half time lead but Simon Rowland equalised 16 minutes from time and Craig Bunch hit the winner eight minutes later.
Chapman said: "In the second half we were outstanding. We had six players aged 19 and under and that made it especially pleasing."
New signing Richard Carter hit the target as Three Bridges won 2-0 at home to St Leonards.
Damien Webber put Bridges ahead at half time and Carter, newly signed from Burgess Hill, struck a second three minutes after the interval.
Boss Sammy Donnelly said: "It was a welcome win because things have been a little flat over the last few weeks."
The only sour note for Bridges was the dismissal of Gareth Green for violent conduct five minutes into stoppage time.
