A woman has been arrested in connection with the death of a three-year-old girl.
The 25-year-old woman was held yesterday by police investigating the death of Lucy Dunford.
The toddler was airlifted to hospital after being found unconscious in a bedroom at an end-of-terrace family house.
Despite attempts to revive her, doctors pronounced her dead shortly after she was admitted to the Conquest Hospital in Hastings late on Monday.
Police taped off the house in Pelwood Road, Camber, near Rye, as officers conducted house-to-house inquiries.
A Home Office paediatric pathologist conducted a post-mortem but it proved inconclusive.
Further tests were being carried out yesterday.
However, police confirmed they were now treating Lucy's death as suspicious.
A Sussex Police spokesman said: "A 25-year-old woman is assisting us with our inquiries."
