Albion today turned to former Sheffield Wednesday and Torquay United goalkeeper Stuart Jones to solve a problem between the posts.
The 26-year-old will be on the bench at Wycombe on Saturday as cover for Ben Roberts after Michel Kuipers suffered a knee injury in training which rules him out for a fortnight.
Bristol-born Jones, signed on a non-contract basis, has been playing for Weston-Super-Mare.
He was recommended to manager Mark McGhee by Steve Claridge, who played under him at Millwall and is now player-manager of Weymouth.
McGhee said: "The problem was we couldn't afford to use our last loan on a goalkeeper, so we have searched around.
"I phoned a few people I know and and actually it was Steve Claridge who came up with this lad. He has been on trial at a couple of clubs and he has already played some League football.
"We've had him in training and he has looked the part, so we are quite content to put him on the bench.
"The trial will include being on the bench for at least the next three games.
"We have signed him non-contract on a week to week basis and we will pay him some sort of retainer during that period because he is involved."
Jones began his career at Reading before joining Weston-Super-Mare.
They sold him for £20,000 to Sheffield Wednesday, where he did not make a League appearance in three seasons.
Jones played a total of 32 League games for Torquay. He has also had spells since then with Chester, Barry Town, Chippenham and Hereford.
John Piercy is ruled out of the Wycombe match by an ankle injury.
McGhee wants to persevere with the 4-3-3 formation which has produced consecutive home wins, so three players are in contention to play up front alongside Leon Knight and Trevor Benjamin.
McGhee could give 17-year-old Jake Robinson his full League debut or recall Gary Hart or Chris McPhee to the starting line-up.
