Ben Roberts has been ruled out of Albion's next two matches by another injury blow.

The keeper misses tomorrow night's trip to Luton and Saturday's visit to Grimsby after lasting until half time in the 1-1 draw at bottom club Wycombe Wanderers.

Roberts suffered lower shin damage midway through the first half when he cleared from Wycombe forward Jermaine McSporran.

He had to be replaced for the second half by new signing Stuart Jones and taken to hospital for X-rays.

Manager Mark McGhee revealed: "It is not broken or anything like that but there is a nasty swelling and he will certainly be out for the next two games."

Jones will make his first League start for 21 months at Luton, with Michel Kuipers sidelined as well by knee trouble.

"I am looking forward to it," Jones said. "These things come around pretty quickly so you don't get a chance to be nervous. I have spent a bit of time out of the pro game and you do not realise until then how much you miss it.

"My last League game was for Torquay against Barnet at the end of 2001-02. I saved a penalty and we stayed up. That was my first game for six months as well because I had torn my hamstring."

Jones was signed on non-contract terms last week to cover for Kuipers after playing for Weston-Super-Mare. He said: "It was a massive surprise to come here. It happened so quickly I couldn't believe it.

"I went up to Chester for talks but couldn't agree anything and I was going to sign for Steve Claridge at Weymouth when he said Mark might be interested. I have played under Mark before. He was my first manager at Reading when I was YTS.

"The next thing I knew I was in the car on my way to Brighton about two hours after finding out about it.

"I have been out of the pro game for long enough now and what a great club to come to. It is a great set up with a good bunch of lads and manager."

McGhee said: "I though Stuart did ever so well for 45 minutes. If he maintains that level of performance I don't think we are going to be disappointed in him."

Meanwhile, West Ham boss Alan Pardew hailed new signing Bobby Zamora after his debut goal sparked a second-half revival and a 2-1 win at Bradford.

Zamora, a half-time substitute for Brian Deane, took just 20 minutes to score with a close range header.

Marlon Harewood completed West Ham's comeback in the 78th minute when he slid a low shot through keeper Alan Combe's legs.

"It was a great start for Bobby," said Pardew, who secured Zamora's services as part of the £7million deal that took Jermain Defoe to Tottenham.

"There was no way I was going to sell Jermain without signing a top draw player in exchange and I feel I've done that in Bobby. He's a Premiership player in the First Division.

"We were up against a team that had nothing to lose and Bradford had a real go at us. It wasn't until the second half that we started playing like a West Ham team should. With the way the other results have gone this is a big day for us.
