Claims that Falmer stadium enjoys widespread local support are unfounded - 75 per cent of the population either don't care about or are against it.
Brighton and Hove City Council held a referendum in 1999 in which 68 per cent of voters supported the idea of a stadium at Falmer.
But with a turnout of only 38 per cent, that meant only a quarter of our population supported the proposal.
