Albion were today sweating over a double disciplinary threat which could rob them of their two most influential players for the same match.
Top scorer Leon Knight is suspended for the trip to Stockport on February 28 following his controversial red card for two bookable offences in Tuesday's 2-0 defeat at Luton.
Captain Danny Cullip will also miss the Stockport match if he is cautioned at Grimsby on Saturday. He is on four bookings, one away from an automatic ban.
The inspirational central defender will, however, escape if he survives three more games without a yellow card, as the punishment is downgraded to a warning after the end of February.
Knight's first half booking at Luton for diving, when he and manager Mark McGhee thought Albion should have been awarded a penalty, has renewed fears of the 20-goal striker gaining a reputation among referees.
He was cautioned in similar circumstances against Swindon and Bournemouth earlier in the season, while QPR manager Ian Holloway claimed Knight needs "handles on his shorts".
McGhee said: "Any collusion of that kind would be frowned upon.
"Leon is lightweight and therefore more likely to go down than bigger, stronger players, but he wants to score goals.
"I have not watched the video, but I think he is being harshly treated."
Knight's partner Trevor Benjamin completes his month on loan from Leicester in the Grimsby game, but the two-goal former Cambridge United forward is expected to stay for longer.
"We will be speaking to Leicester," McGhee said. "They understand the situation and I think we will be able to keep him.
"The Plymouth game has been the highlight of his time here so far. His performance then was exactly what we needed, but I think he can do better.
"He came here on a low because he has been out of the team at Leicester and you cannot expect too much of loan players in the first month."
A young Albion side drew 0-0 against Gillingham at the Priestfield Stadium yesterday.
Gillingham's senior players are abroad in Lanzarote, so the clubs agreed to play the fixture both as a reserve cup and under 19's game.
