Eastbourne Borough manager Garry Wilson hopes Saturday's derby against Crawley Town is the last, for a few years at least.

Wilson is keen for the Reds to pip Weymouth to the premier division title and gain promotion to the Nationwide Conference, but is still desperate to put a huge dent in their chances at the Broadfield Stadium.

Wilson said: "There have always been good relations between the two sides and I hope they get in the Conference, although we won't be doing them any favours.

"If they go up that will take them away from us. While they are at our level they are always able to pick up good players ahead of us.

"All the pressure will be on Crawley. They are near the top of the table and cannot afford any slips. When you are at the top, like we were in the eastern division last season, you get nervous."

Victory for Crawley will take them above Weymouth, who are without a game tomorrow, while three points for Borough would keep them riding high in the top six.

Reds boss Francis Vines said: "I'm not expecting Eastbourne to go out of their way to help us because I would not roll over and let them beat us if they were in the same situation.

"We must not get distracted by the fact we can go top or that it is a derby. It is just another game and all that matters is that we get the three points.

"There is a long way to go still but it would be nice to go top. You would not have thought it a couple of weeks ago when Weymouth had a five-point lead."

Vines is still hopeful of signing a new striker before tomorrow's game despite having £10,000 bids for three different players turned down last week, something which highlights the financial gulf between Crawley and Eastbourne.

Wilson said: "From a budget point of view we should not be on the same pitch as them. It is a game they are expected to win but we will go there with no fear."
