SO, Brighton Labour MP David Lepper is seeking to ban cold-calling on people's doorsteps (The Argus, February 8).
While I'm sure we all agreed with Mr Lepper when he said he had been appalled by cases of vulnerable people, including pensioners, being pressed into paying for property improvement or maintenance work, what about all the people he and his party conned at the last general election?
Labour pledged not to raise taxation, not to introduce top-up fees for students and to save the NHS.
Tell that to my mother who is being slowly eaten away by cancer or my grandmother who is waiting nine months for a cataract operation.
Presumably Mr Lepper and his Labour colleagues will be imposing a self-ban on cold-calling at people's doors as they seem all too capable of conning defenceless old and vulnerable people
into believing his government really will keep its promises.
Talk about daylight robbery.
