So, April 2004 approaches and Brighton and Hove City Council is considering increasing council tax by almost 12 per cent.
Goodness only knows how the fixed-income population, who have no union to demand an increase in the state pension, are going to cope.
However, I have a solution to help matters.
As there are plenty of automatic camera devices around the city and more to appear, is it not possible that the fines speeding car drivers pay are passed to the council?
This large sum would alleviate the burden of increased council tax.
After all, the police seem unable to put this extra revenue to good use.
