School terms in Brighton and Hove are likely to change from autumn next year.
Easter weekend would no longer determine the dates of the spring school holiday.
This would be fixed as the first two weeks of April. Good Friday and Easter Monday would always be school holidays whenever they fell.
The autumn term would never start before the Monday after August bank holiday weekend.
The Christmas and new year break would last at least two weeks and the three half-terms would all remain one week each.
Headteachers, governors, trade unions and the two church dioceses have been consulted.
Brighton and Hove's schools committee will discuss the proposals on Monday.
Term dates with the same holiday periods are also being considered by West and East Sussex county councils.
The Government is looking at a national six-term system.
