Bognor Regis slipped to defeat for the first time in seven outings when they lost at home to a powerful-looking Hornchurch side.
The visitors took an early grip on proceedings.
Vinnie John saw a header from a Mark Graham cross well saved by Rocks keeper Craig Stoner before Adam Locke had a free kick deflected narrowly wide.
Bognor took the lead against the run of play in the 28th minute when a Guy Rutherford cross was rifled into the roof of the net by Matt Russell, having firstly turned his marker.
Hornchurch's response was a shot from John Martin which was tipped on to the top of the crossbar and behind by Stoner.
The Urchins equalised in the 44th minute when the lively Graham broke down the right before crossing for John to head home at the near post.
The visitors were 2-1 up in the 65th minute when a Graham corner appeared to be misjudged at the near post by Stoner and diverted into the net by Lee Matthews.
Within minutes, Jamie Howell played a dangerous ball into the visitors' box but Russell 's lob cleared the crossbar.
Bognor protested that had elbowed John Price in the 83rd minute, put the referee waved play on and Bertie Brayley raced onto John's flick-on before slotting into the far corner.
Deep into stoppage time, Brayley was given his marching orders after kicking out at Russell with the Bognor man on the floor.
