Nick Nurse faces a two-game ban from the bench after being ejected for the second time this season.
The Brighton Bears coach was sent out of Sunday's 106-82 league defeat at Scottish Rocks, along with top scorer Kendrick Warren, for arguing against refereeing calls.
Nurse will miss games at home to the Rocks and away to Chester unless, as seems likely, he appeals.
That would given him a chance to state his case and would also push the ban back to cover games with the bottom two teams in the league, Leicester and Birmingham.
Warren receives an automatic seven penalty points for being ejected, which is not enough for a ban, but he is not in the clear yet.
His case may be reviewed and the penalty increased as he received three technical fouls during the game.
Bears' heaviest defeat for nearly three years also saw Rico Alderson sustain a facial cut which will be treated this week. Randy Duck is still sidelined.
Nurse said: "Kendrick got three or four obviously bad decisions. He had finally had enough and decided to tell the refs about it.
"I called time-out and, as I tend to do sometimes, had my say as well. We were ejected together."
Nurse admitted his team's heavy schedule caught up with them over a weekend which also saw them lose the BBL Trophy final.
He has given his players three days off in a bid to recover for the crucial league clash with Sheffield at the Brighton Centre on Saturday (7pm).
The Bears chief said: "I think the trip to Newcastle last Wednesday caught up with us but what do you do? Not get to finals? The players weren't very good physically on Sunday. Shots were coming up short and our legs had gone a bit."
Tom Frederick has been cleared tp play in the Sheffield game. The Bears forward had been threatened with a ban for his part in a scuffle when the sides met at Ponds Forge recently.
