Chris Iwelumo today revealed he can do even better than the long-range thunderbolt on his debut which sealed Albion's first away win since November.

The big striker, signed from Stoke, scored with an unstoppable shot from 30 yards in the closing stages of last night's 2-0 triumph at Chesterfield.

Iwelumo said: "Last year in the FA Cup against Wigan, I scored a volley from 20 yards. It went in at 81 miles an hour. I think only Alan Shearer could match that.

"I've had a few from long range but I will take any goal and I was absolutely delighted with this one.

"I started to get a bit tired, so I couldn't do anything but strike it. We've got three points with the bonus of a clean sheet as well, so we are all happy."

Guy Butters had earlier headed Albion into a second half lead as a change in preparation contributed to a change in fortunes away from Withdean.

Manager Mark McGhee said: "It was the end to a perfect couple of days. We took the players up to a hotel on Monday night to try something a little bit different.

"We trained yesterday morning and we have got a result we thoroughly deserved and desperately needed, so it has worked for us."

Albion are now unbeaten for six matches and have moved into fourth on goal difference above Swindon, who play one of their two games in hand at home to Grimsby tonight.
