The controlled parking zone in Brighton and Hove continues to expand.
Now it has reached the London Road barrier. My guess is it will cross over to the Stanford Avenue/Preston Drove areas before the end of this summer and the Ditchling Road barrier in the winter of 2005 before reaching the Klondyke-rich pickings of the Elm Grove and Southover back streets in the summer of 2005.
It's about money, not congestion, safety or any other argument.
The £80 you will be paying to park outside your house (if you find a space) is the real prize coupled with parking penalties.
Once established, this will be linked to inflation but, as council tax rises have shown, in reality the sky's the limit.
If I could buy shares in it, the scheme would an excellent idea.
