Bognor manager Jack Pearce says his players are not good enough for the premier division.
Rocks suffered their third defeat in a row with a 2-1 defeat at home to second-placed Hendon.
Eugene Offuri put the visitors ahead just before half time but Bognor levelled almost immediately from a free kick by Michael Birmingham. Ricci Crace gave Hendon the points with an 88th-minute winner.
Bognor remain in seventh place but Pearce said: "Our league position flatters us.
"We have got there by working hard collectively. But individually we are not good enough for this division and the quicker the players realise that the better."
