Leon Knight today backed new strike partner Chris Iwelumo to create Albion history.
Iwelumo could become the first player to score in his first three Football League appearances for the Seagulls at Knight's old club Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.
The big striker, signed on a free transfer from Stoke, struck on his debut at Chesterfield last week and followed up with a header against Colchester at Withdean on Saturday.
Steve Cotterill, Iwelumo's former manager at Stoke and during a loan spell with Cheltenham, was the last Albion player to score in his first two League games 12 years ago.
Now Iwelumo has a chance to re-write the record books against one of his favourite opponents. He scored twice against Sheffield in a 3-2 home win for Stoke last season.
Knight said: "I am probably expecting him to score on Saturday and I hope he does break the record.
"I fancy his chances. He always looks like he is going to score when we play off him and from set pieces.
"He battles people about and holds the ball up well. He flicks balls on and hardly ever loses a header, so it is good to have a man like that up front."
