Teri Knight having to physically prove that she is disabled to one of the city's parking attendants I find astonishing (The Argus, March 23).
Teri should have been able to show him her official documents from Brighton and Hove City Council. I am sure that she has found this experience very distressing.
Having successfully complained to the council, it has accepted this action was inappropriate. The Blue Badge scheme is recognised across Europe and is issued here by the Department of Transport.
Disabled drivers can park free-of-charge in voucher parking spaces.
There have been cases in this city where the badges have been abused.
Teri is quite right she should not have been treated in this way. Not all disabilities are visible and this must be remembered by parking attendants.
On the whole they do a very good job under, at times, very difficult conditions.
