Teville Gate is such a fantastic location, offering an unique opportunity for the council to be bold and say something dramatic about the "gateway" to Worthing.
Apart from the obvious argument of improving the aesthetics of the approaches to Worthing, my main concerns are:
1. In an age when the public are constantly criticising young people for vandalism and other anti-social behaviour, do we not have to look at the root causes of this phenomenon? Surely the most obvious factor is boredom and lack of alternatives for young people. A cinema/bowling complex would go some way towards mitigating this.
2. I appreciate there is a shortage of housing in the South-East of England, yet it takes much more than accommodation to make a town. A town needs to have focal points of sport, entertainment, government and leisure. To make a town purely a residential area is to rip out its identity, which in the long run leads to its terminal decline.
There are numerous example of this scattered across the UK.
I hope I am not alone in feeling this and would encourage you to continue to lobby the council.
