I was astounded to read the article about Daniel Lindeman (The Argus, March 24).
For the first time since becoming a parent I was afraid because I realised how easy it is for people to prey on children and young adults.
My son had visited the barber shop owned by Daniel Lindeman several times and only now can I remember certain things aimed at youngsters in his barber shop - the Playstation and TV, which he actively encouraged the children to play. No wonder my son wanted to go back.
What amazed me was how easy it is to surround yourself with the young legitimately.
At the end of the article it said that Mr Lindeman would not be allowed to work with children again but I presume he will still be able to work as a hairdresser after release from prison.
You can't get much closer than cutting some child's hair.
Call me paranoid but I now know what it is like innocently to encourage your child to trust a paedophile.
In short, I have realised that these people do not lurk in dark alleyways but appear friendly, confident and, above all, trustworthy.
