Thunder go to Manchester Magic in the last eight after losing 86-84 at Ware on Saturday.
They bounced back last night as Gayle fired 33 points in a 95-78 defeat of City of Sheffield.
One of five Gayle three-pointers gave them a double-digit lead in the second quarter which they only let slip briefly.
