I have to respond to Dave Stone's letter. You say, "if common sense was so common", Mr Stone, when it seems to me that you have no sense whatsoever.
It was proved that the girls had tried unsuccessfully to phone a cab.
If they had refused the lift from Graham Travers and walked home, would it have been okay with you if they had been mugged or raped?
As for your comments about seat belts, according to the reports, Travers shot off at great speed with the three girls in the back.
Survivor Beccy Fish has been reported as saying they did not have time to put their seat belts on.
A trained police driver could not control a car at speed down that road.
Graham Travers, an unlicensed, agitated, drunken driver, was obviously out of control. So do you think the only thing those girls should have worried about was belting up?
The only sensible thing Mr Stone said is that there should be a legal requirement for a person to display a licence to drive and that the legal system is an ass.
There is one question I would like answered. Would the person who loaned the car to Graham Travers be guilty of aiding and abetting a crime if he/she knew that he did not have a licence?
Finally, Mr Stone, if you had any common sense you might have used it to stop and think how hurtful your remarks would be to the families of Flo and Vickie, and to Beccy who survived with such horrendous injuries?
You say you have no sympathy. I say you have no feelings.
