I read with interest about the latest attempt by Eastbourne Borough Council to rebrand the town - again! (The Argus, April 5.)
As a resident of Eastbourne who has seen huge rises in council tax while cuts are made in the town's facilities and attractions, I'm baffled at the timing of this latest campaign to "Change Your View".
I am in my 30s, actually like living in Eastbourne and can see its huge potential.
So I have been dismayed by the short-sighted cuts in funding and closure of our already limited set of attractions, open spaces and theatres.
If the powers-that-be really want people to change their view of Eastbourne - or at least have a more balanced one - then they need to invest in our seafront, quality events (unlike Airbourne), our cultural infrastructure and bringing a retail development to our town that will replace our dire Arndale Centre.
The cultural revival that is trying to take root in Eastbourne - and believe me, it is trying - is doing so despite the best efforts of our elected representatives and officers rather than because of them.
If the people who claim to lead had vision beyond the end of their noses, we could have a seriously prosperous town.
