Albion marksman Leon Knight has been charged by the FA with violent behaviour.
The 25-goal striker was reported by referee Eddie Evans for misconduct after the game against his old club Sheffield Wednesday at the end of last month.
Knight was involved in a flashpoint at the final whistle following the Seagulls' last-gasp 2-1 defeat at Hillsborough.
He has until Monday to request a personal hearing against the charge, which could lead to a ban or fine.
Albion will be hoping the disciplinary process grinds slowly enough for Knight to be unaffected for the rest of this season.
They are pushing for the play-offs, which could extend their campaign until the Second Division final at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff on May 30.
Albion's personal hearing following the mass confrontation during the match at Stockport on February 28 takes place next Tuesday.
The Seagulls have admitted a charge of failing to control their players.
Manager Mark McGhee revealed today that Knight's strike partner Chris Iwelumo was unwell before Monday's 0-0 home draw against Rushden and Diamonds.
Paul Reid, John Piercy and Chris McPhee, all part of a triple substitution by McGhee towards the end of the Rushden game, play for the Reserves against Wycombe at Worthing tonight (7pm).
Albion Reserves: Kuipers; El-Abd, Hinshelwood, Breach, Mayo, Beck, Hammond, Reid, Piercy, Lee, McPhee. Subs: Robinson, Budd, Windsor, May, Elphick.
