I have two children who go to St John The Baptist School, which is behind the Royal Sussex Hospital on Whitehawk Hill, Brighton.

There has always been a problem with parking at the school in the evening when picking up our children but, last year, we got in touch with the traffic wardens to see if we could come to some agreement on parking.

We were informed that we could park at the school as long as it was not on the island or blocking anyone's driveway.

This has been the arrangement for the past 12 months.

It appears they have now decided to change this without letting us know, as for the past three weeks we have had wardens at the school trying to issue tickets.

The school does not allow children to leave the school without a parent and I received a ticket myself while I was in the playground collecting my children.

When I rang up about this I was told that when they made the

agreement, what they meant was that you would not receive a ticket if you stayed in the car (of which they never informed us).

Today, there was another warden at the school but this time he was not issuing tickets. He was just taking pictures of cars. When he was asked why, he told us they don't issue tickets any more, just took pictures and then sent the ticket straight to your home.

Is this true? He also said that if you are parked on double yellow lines that it is an automatic £100 fine. Is this true?
