Albion manager Mark McGhee today vowed to "fight all the way" the FA charge of violent behaviour levelled against Leon Knight.

Knight is requesting a personal hearing and McGhee will demand that referee Eddie Evans attends it.

The Argus revealed on Wednesday that Knight has been charged for his part in a flashpoint at the final whistle after Albion's last-gasp defeat against his old club Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough on March 27.

Dean White, Albion's reserve team coach, was also involved.

McGhee said: "Dean and I will go along as witnesses and I will ask the referee to be there.

"We will fight it all the way. There was a lot more to it than Leon just pushing one of their boys. We are quite prepared to take on the ref over what he saw."

The hearing is unlikely to take place until June, after Albion's potential involvement in the play-offs.

McGhee has urged his players to stop relying on the failings of others to clinch a top six slot.

The Seagulls are still fifth, with a four point cushion over the chasing pack, despite losing at Blackpool and only drawing at home against lowly Rushden and Diamonds over Easter.

McGhee is looking for an improved performance against in-form Peterborough at Withdean on Saturday.

"We have to start playing better and doing the job ourselves, because somebody behind us is going to win a game and get really close to us," he warned.

"I think we probably have to win two more games, not three or four. We have got two more home games left and they are going to be important."

Peterborough have edged away from the relegation zone since Barry Fry appointed former Wales manager Bobby Gould as first team coach.

McGhee said: "I know Bobby well. I was a young player at Bristol City when Bobby was there as a player.

"Peterborough are very much in-form. I saw them against Rushden a couple of weeks ago and they played well. We are going to have to play better than against Rushden, but it will be a different type of game."
