The Argus is handy for recommending places to go with children but it's also useful to know where not to go.
A party of us, including three well-behaved children aged 3, 5 and 7, went for lunch on Easter Sunday at Tallula's Tea Rooms in Hampton Place, Brighton.
The children weren't treated as customers but as a health hazard, ordered not to leave their seats under any circumstances in case they caused a waiter to have an accident.
Even walking from one table to our friends at another to ask a question about the order was met with a sharp rebuke. We were clearly unwelcome.
Yet when we pointed out a genuine health hazard - a wire clip from a freezer bag in my daughter's drink - the manager exploded with fury, aggressively denying that this was the responsibility of the caf.
No apology was forthcoming.
"On Easter Sunday we were fully booked and at first these people sat outside before I was able to clear a table for them to come inside.
One child was running up and down and another lay across the entrance to the kitchen. I had to ask them to sit down as we were carrying hot food and drink.
We are child-friendly and we know several families in the street who have brought their children along in the month we have been open.
But we cannot have children running. If they want to do that, they should go somewhere with a garden.
We do not keep freezer bags and there is no way in which wire could have got in to a glass. All the glasses are stored upside-down before they are used.
-We are annoyed and angry at these comments which we feel are totally unjustified."
