Last Friday I attended a performance of Les Miserables at the Gardner Arts Centre at Sussex University.
The production was staged by members of the Starlight Youth Theatre Company and directed by Michael Burnie.
I can only describe the show as absolutely brilliant, with every one of the very large cast performing to their utmost.
The staging, the individual performances and the orchestra were superb. With the theatre packed, it was fantastic and extremely enjoyable, ending with a standing ovation that lasted several minutes.
I would urge people to attend any other show that this group performs, as they are so close to being professional.
It is a pity they couldn't have used a larger theatre - the Dome for instance.
The show was well worth every penny I paid and I hope the group made a handsome profit.
It is wonderful to have such a young and talented group of actors and actresses. This bodes well for the future.
I just cannot praise them enough and I wish the group every success in the future.
I am sure many of them will see their names in lights on the West End in years to come.
