At least 5,000 people are expected to watch the town centre cycle races in Crawley on the evening of May 16.

The Team Persil Great Britain squad, Guildford Criterium winner Justin Hoy and former Tour de France star Sean Yates are among the elite riders who have entered the main event which will have a £500 first prize, plus lap awards.

The start and finish line of a testing one kilometre circuit will be on The Broadway by Queens Square.

Hastings star Peter Tadros continued his run of successes by winning both East Sussex CA time trials.

He clocked 21min.1sec in the ten-mile event at East Hoathly and his In Gear team-mate Jon Sharples was second (21min.19sec).

James Dear (22min) tied for third place with Boyd Johnson (Eastbourne Rovers) to clinch the team award for In Gear.

Rovers rider Helen Carter (24min.58sec) won the women's event.

Tadros won his sixth race of the season (52min.10sec) when first in the 25-mile event at Maresfield.

Sharples (54min.27sec) was second and Dear (54min.35sec) third for another In Gear team win. Steve Geran, of GS Stella (54min.51sec), was fourth and Nick Rudkin (Eastbourne Rovers) fifth (55min.55sec).

Carter also completed the double, winning the women's race in 1hr. 2min. 53sec.

Yates, another member of the In Gear squad, took advantage of a weekend off from his managerial duties with the CIS team in Europe to win the Epsom ten (20min.3sec).
