What a wonderful display Brighton and Hove schools gave us on Saturday to mark the opening of the Brighton Festival.

It was plain to see that many months of hard work and dedication had gone into making such splendid models and costumes.

What a pity that they were relegated to the back streets of Brighton to show off their finery.

Perhaps Brighton and Hove City Council might consider that if it wants this kind of commitment every year, it might be more in keeping to let them march, banners waving, through a major road where they belong.

And if it brings the traffic to a halt, so what?
