During the Easter holiday my wife and I took our two young grandchildren to Paradise Park at Newhaven as they like having rides on the roundabouts and playing on the various machines.

When we arrived we were surprised to find the usual entrance boarded up. At the main entrance we were told that the amusement area was being refurbished and some of the equipment was out of order.

To save disappointing the young ones we asked if we could still gain access to save a wasted journey.

We were then told that to do this we would have to pay to enter via the "jungle" area which would cost us £19.99 for a family ticket. Reluctantly, we paid up just to walk quickly through, as the children were not interested in exotic plants etc.

On reaching the amusements we quickly got through £10 worth of tokens and bought snacks and toys, which cost us a total of nearly £50 for less than two hours' entertainment.

On complaining to the management we were told this was their new policy and it would be cheaper to buy a season ticket.

I think other people should be aware of these changes before travelling any distance and possibly disappointing their young ones.
