Having recently purchased a superb book, The Streets Of Brighton, featuring Brighton's buses of yesteryear, I realise how privileged I was, as a young boy living off Coombe Road in the early 1950s, to be surrounded by all those glorious red and cream buses!
Like so many other Brighton families at this time, we had very little money but following my bus-spotting hobby and living in Brighton, I certainly did not feel I was being deprived of anything.
On page 18 there is a picture of a corporation AEC motorbus (No 61) on route 42. This picture is so good I can hear her pulling away from the bus stop.
