I am absolutely incensed by the comments made in The Argus regarding noise issues associated with the Brighton Festival.
My partner and I have suffered sleepless nights due to generator noise from Austin & Cottles Circus and the Three Kings event in Preston Park. We are both young, professional people who enjoy the Festival but not at the expense of our health.
The comments would have gone down an absolute treat with the elderly gentleman from Nestor Court who was pleading with members of the display at 11.45 on Friday night as it was disturbing his infirm wife.
I complained to the council noise patrol and was informed that there had been a number of complaints. This is unacceptable.
I am far from old at 37 and I still do my fair share of partying thank you very much but I would like to sleep at night and not have to suffer from continual generator noise or loud music.
When events such as this are planned, they should be done so with the interests of the local residents in mind. I should not have to complain about noise at unsociable hours of the night in order to allow me to get enough sleep to perform my daily job properly.
I feel privileged to live in Brighton and love the varied social scene, especially the Festival, but surely the purpose is to entertain and enrich people's lives, not make them worse.
