Following recent complaints about the noise from the Brighton Festival, I am writing on behalf of all shift workers, of which I am one in the medical profession.
I work night shifts and usually tolerate most disturbances as short-lived.
However, the construction of a two-storey extension and what that entails finally sent me complaining to try to get some peace and quiet.
The noise was enough to make our house vibrate on numerous occasions and the mess and noise have been intolerable.
Our residential close turned into a building site overnight and stayed that way for several months.
Mid Sussex District Council building department told me "it's not normal to want to sleep in the day" and a letter from the environmental protection team said "we must judge how noise affects the average person who would not be asleep during the day."
This means we have no rights at all. I am disgusted.
