Albion manager Mark McGhee today attacked the FA for scheduling Leon Knight's disciplinary hearing so close to Sunday's play-off final against Bristol City.
A hearing into a charge of violent behaviour levelled against the Seagulls' 26-goal marksman takes place at the FA's London headquarters at Soho Square this afternoon.
Coach Dean White has also been charged following a flare-up at the end of Albion's 2-1 defeat by Knight's old club Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough in March. His hearing runs consecutively.
Knight's involvement in Sunday's big game at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff will not be affected, but he could be suspended for the start of next season.
McGhee said: "I don't expect it to have implications for the start of next season.
"I think the fact they are even having to go to a meeting is ludicrous, especially in the week before we have got this game. It's not fair.
"I am upset about the timing and the fact that it has even led to charges. It was nothing."
Albion will be in their blue and white striped home shirts on Sunday but with blue shorts and socks instead of white, which is the kit they wore for last month's goalless draw at Bristol City.
Supporters will be in the north end of the ground and the Seagulls have been allocated the north dressing room.
Striker Chris Iwelumo helped former club Stoke end a supposed hoodoo on the south dressing room in the Second Division play-off final against Brentford two years ago.
Iwelumo, as expected, will be staying with Albion next season after talks with McGhee, regardless of which division they are playing in.
