Road safety officials used to deal with accident blackspots such as the A23 before accidents occurred rather than after.
One such road is Eastern Road, Kemp Town, Brighton. It has become more busy and congested each year.
It serves a bingo hall, super-market, two large schools and the Royal Sussex County Hospital.
This narrow road is also the main access to the A27 at Falmer and is used by fire engines from Roedean and more and more ambulances and buses. The congestion has grown and is now dangerous and needs attention before we have another catastrophe.
