Now we have returned to Earth (thankfully, with a soft landing), it's time for us to reflect on an evening that we will never forget.
We refer, of course, to The Argus Achievement Awards at the Hilton Metropole Hotel in Brighton last Friday.
Along with all of the other lovely people there, we gasped in amazement at the truly incredible feats of the nominees. It soon became apparent to us that everyone connected with the event was a real winner.
The award we received (in the category Parents of the Year) has left us both very humbled and proud. We have no doubts, though, that we accept this accolade on behalf of all parents everywhere, who are grappling with one of the most involved and challenging jobs in the world - that of raising their children.
May we extend our thanks to the many celebrities who supported the evening and to The Argus and Seeboard for showing real community involvement.
Long may unsung heroes continue to enjoy future awards evenings.
-Phil and Val Avery, Burgess Hill
