We are told the Pride parade will attract a vast amount of money to be spent on accommodation, food and refreshments.
If this is true, why has Brighton and Hove City Council decided to subsidise the event with £26,000 of taxpayers' money?
I now learn (The Argus, May 20) that the public transport services will cease completely in the city centre between 10am and 4pm.
Residents will be unable to go shopping, visit their relatives and friends in the Royal Sussex County Hospital, take their children to the beach or go to the cinema.
For many families, it is the only day of the week when they can come to the centre to shop and have lunch.
Do other parades, such as the Scout Association's St George's Day Parade, the British Legion Remembrance Day Parade, receive the same subsidy and is public transport affected to the same extent?
