More than £500,000 will be spent in the next year to make Brighton and Hove a cycle-friendly city.
The cash is part of a £5.7 million package agreed by the city council's environment committee following Government grants.
The council will spend £279,000 improving the national cycle network which runs through the city along the coast.
Another £180,000 will be spent on lighting to improve a stretch close to Kingsway in Hove.
A total of £10,000 will go on cycle signing and parking while £105,000 is earmarked for a cycle route from Hove to Hangleton.
About £295,000 on safety and safer routes to school schemes will also form part of the spending.
