It has got to happen. I have got to get a speed camera ticket and probably sooner than later.
To and from work, I pass six cameras a day, or about 1,500 a year. It is impossible for me, or any chief constable, to be on the ball 1,500 times out of 1,500. That is computer territory.
The officials say the cameras are installed at black spots and have substantially reduced the passing numbers of speedsters.
These could be reduced again to practically zero if inexpensive flashing amber lights were fixed to each camera making it clearly visible to everyone
approaching that black spot thus increasing the safety and reducing the accident figures.
This would, of course, wipe out the healthy income the cameras clock up but as we are told the cash is unimportant in comparison to the safety angle it won't matter will it?
