A route has been decided for a victory parade to celebrate Brighton and Hove Albion's promotion to the Coca-Cola Championship.

Starting at King's House in Grand Avenue, Hove, the triumphant players will be driven along the A259 coast road to Madeira Drive in an open top bus on Sunday.

Leaving at 11am, the bus will continue at walking pace followed by supporters and well-wishers.

It wil be greeted by a sea of blue and white in a cordoned-off area just beyond the Sea Life Centre at about 11:45am.

The players and coaching staff will then be presented to the crowd and speeches will be made.

The bus will leave at about 12:45pm.

Club chief executive Martin Perry said "There will be a large band in front of the bus so it will be a very noisy and fun event.

"We want people to come along first of all to celebrate an amazing achievement.

"To get back into the First Division at the first attempt is astonishing.

"It was done in the most exciting and dramatic way possible.

"Secondly, we still don't have a decision on the stadium and we want to show Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott (who will make a decision on the stadium plan) just how huge the support for the club is and how important it is to the city.

A carnival atmosphere is expected as thousands of supporters descend on to the seafront to applaud the Seagulls after their 1-0 win against Bristol City in the Division Two play-off final in May.

It is the earliest date the team could get together after their holidays.

A rolling road closure will operate - the route will be shut infront of the bus and reopened behind it.

Madeira Drive will be closed up to Duke's Mound between 8am and 1pm.

Drivers will still be able to access Marine Parade from the Old Steine and A23.
