A man who loaned his car to an uninsured driver who killed two nursery nurses said he wished he could turn back the clock.
Sean Downes owned the black Ford Mondeo involved in the smash in Portland Road, Hove, last October.
Brighton magistrates yesterday banned him from driving for six months and fined him £300 for lending the car to an uninsured driver.
Downes, a 19-year-old scaffolder, pleaded guilty and afterwards said: "I feel very sorry for what happened and for the families of those involved.
"I was in shock when I heard what happened and it still bothers me to this day. I wish I could turn the clock back."
Downes said he was once good friends with the driver, Graham Travers.
But when asked what he felt about Travers now, he replied: "No comment."
Travers, a 21-year-old barman of Shelldale Road, Portslade, was earlier this year jailed for five and a half years for causing death by dangerous driving, having no insurance, driving with excess alcohol and having no licence.
Killed in the crash were Vicki Browne, 19, of Bentham Road, Brighton, and Natalie "Flo" McCabe, 21, of Ravensbourne Road, Shoreham.
Their friend Becky Fish, 20, of Mile Oak, was seriously injured and lost part of a leg.
Downes, of Rutland Road, Hove, was given six penalty points which, added to his existing six points for speeding, automatically banned him for six months.
He was also ordered to pay £175 costs.
