A big thanks to The Argus for mentioning Telscombe Town fair (The Argus, July 16).

We were blessed with glorious sunshine and thanks partly to the plug we had a good-sized crowd who enjoyed our alternative eco-fair running along side the normal fair.

However, you seemed to suggest I'd organised the alternative Glastonbury-style solar-powered event single-handed. Not so.

The Circle, as it was called, is the work of Peacehaven and Telscombe Regeneration Partnership working with a variety of organisations including Brighton Permaculture Trust, Low Carbon Network, Blooming Futures, riverOcean and Lewes District Council. Local groups such as the House Project, St Martins preschool and Union of Music at the Joff also took part.

The regeneration partnership exists to identify a number of local priorities reflecting the needs and ambitions of our local area and to promote a sustainable community.

It now invites local residents to become more involved in the process of improving our neighbourhood and the world beyond it.

This could include helping to identify needs and priorities, such as better transport or access to education and skills training. Or, perhaps, you'd like to self-build your own eco-home.

It is far more effective to receive guidance at grass roots than to allow politicians in central government to make bad decisions on our behalf.

We are limited only by our imaginations and the funding streams available. If you're feeling inspired, all the organisations mentioned in this letter need volunteers. Look them up.

If you would like further information about our Regeneration Partnership call 01273 300 116. We look forward to hearing from you.
