Second Division Preston Nomads provided the shock result of the quarter-finals when they beat premiership leaders Chichester by the extraordinary margin of 210 runs in the Sussex Cup.

Steve Gatting made 123 and powered Nomads to 286-4 from their 45 overs. Kashif Ibrahim made 68 and 51 extras helped swell the total.

The home side then collapsed to 76 all out as Nomads' left-arm spinner Steve Rigg grabbed 6-11 in 6.1 overs.

Jibran Khan hit 68 and helped set up Steyning's impressive 234-6 at home to Brighton.

South African wicketkeeper Darren Smit made 54 and Andrew Simmons 46 not out.

Patrick Spencer then hit 81 not out but Brighton were dismissed for 194.

Horsham rattled up 245 all out at home to Littlehampton which was a good effort after slumping to 70-5. Craig Gallagher hit 65, Mark Nash 38, John Burger 31 and Tim Dodd 32 while Luke Vintner took 3-32 and Adam Tester 3-45.

Littlehampton lost early wickets and were held to 172-9 as Will Ripley (4-14) and Chris Nash (2 -25) struck.

East Grinstead had the better of their match at Hastings where the weather restricted the game to 35 overs each.

The visitors made 216-6 as Neil Turk hit 96 and the home side were then bowled out for 176 despite 71 from Brad Smith.
