Education Secretary Charles Clarke is quite right to turn the clock back and re-introduce school uniforms for every state school (The Argus, July 16).
Every pupil will then have pride and feel part of the school. In my view, this sense of belonging is very important.
Any pupil not wearing the required uniform should be sent home to change, making the time up outside of school hours.
When I left school 31 years ago, non-wearing of uniform was not accepted.
