I was sorry to read about Don Harris' embarrassment at the gymnasium, when he compared his body with the steroid-supplemented muscle men (Letters, July 14).

Don't worry, we can't all be Charles Atlas.

The solution is simply to obtain an allotment, for cheaper than the rates charged at sport and leisure centres, and you will be far healthier. You will be able to breath in natural fresh air. No more inhaling stale air which smells of sweat.

For your labours, you will be able to enjoy the superb taste of home-grown vegetables, which will do you far more good than any tonic prescribed by the doctor.

Wishing you a long and healthy life.
